Back to school always evokes a myriad of memories. Lunch boxes were the thing when I was in elementary school; every year's pick set the tone for the one time during the day we could be unabashedly social: lunchtime. The Flying Nun, Mystery Date, The Partridge Family all made lunch fun for me, until eight grade when the class was told we must brown bag it.
My kids Tupperwar-ed it, opting out of the school lunch offerings. Now they can cook for themselves, and turn a deaf ear to my 'clean up your mess' comments. I guess a lunch time text could replace the sweet lunchbox notes I'd write... nah, I still write them when I can.
Feeding people can be a great gift. Who doesn't like food? Fill a woman's refrigerator and freezer with meals, and she will forever remember you fondly. Feel free to clean her house, too, and if you are really, extra able hardwood floors are number one on her list of 'wants,' next to more time to exercise, or have a moment alone with some coffee...or wine.
