I am all about the anti-resolution; the beginning of a New Year becomes stressful to me the more I try to hold to a plan made with the best intention, yet usually leads to failure. However, living a healthy lifestyle, makes sense and that's the route many try to take perhaps after making one purchase to enhance that journey be it an ab-mat, a sugar detox program or gym membership.
Goals are great, but clutter gets in the way of a listeners life the same way it gets in the way of them staying focused on listening to the radio. A toddler meltdown trumps a favorite song so does a phone call from a friend who needs advice.
Stay the course and keep embracing all the content, possibilities and plan with hope, not stress. Different life events bring new beginnings for all of us, and this particular time of the year is a wonderful time for both you and your listener to refresh, reset and move into a new season.
There's a song we played during the holidays that celebrated Christmas as being "the most wonderful time of the year." January is the second most wonderful time of the year! It's a month filled with crisp air that fills our lungs, and allows us to exhale relief. It begins a season of renewed starting points. How we use it matters. We can stay those friends who keep reminding her about winter weather and all the problems it brings or not, there's the challenge and what can make you stand out.
My girlfriend Kim is dreaming about gardening right now; she's not able to plant or weed or fertilize, but she can definitely look at her seed catalogs then dream, and plan, and look forward to what's about to come. This is the beginning of the process for her planting, it sets a nice tone for personal growth, too.
Right now there are a lot of messages coming at our us and our listener, encouraging us to lose weight, get organized, quit smoking; I'm sure there's one gnawing at you. We can say we're going to make changes, but its the steps it takes to do this, it's the process, it's also staying in our lane. Sometimes we try to do more when on-air consistency is exactly what she needs.
