Women everywhere are tossing all their clothes and accessories into a pile on their beds and dividing their goods into piles "Spark's Joy" and "Go." It's a phenomenon, but it's not new. One year ago Marie Kondo's The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up held the coveted spot on the front table at the Strand Bookstore in New York City. I purchased it immediately and it within a day, and then I had a lot of tidying to think about.
Marie makes a point to say you you can't just do one room or a closet, the entire house must be tidied. Still, I tidied a few closets and she was right, it was hard to keep them up. But now that this woman has a show on Netflix, I have seen the magic in physical form, and my whole house has has been alerted that the tidying is about to begin.
There's nothing like a little inspiration and a good story to show how much good can come from an unsuspected task. The beauty behind the tidying is that you feel less cluttered inside, and out. Women are connecting to what matters instead of how many things they own, and old memories found rekindle a sweetness they forgot about. Ready to tidy?
