Eavesdropping while getting a pedicure used to be a fun way to hear what women are chatting about.
I've not gotten a pedicure since lockdown happened, and I feel for the estheticians whose careers and finances dramatically changed due to COVID. I've gotten socially distanced manicures but sticking my feet into a bowl with a drainage system that filters skin does not feel right. I'll pass right now--the bowl can be cleaned after each use, not the filter.
My eavesdropping is now limited but has not ended. If I tallied the topics from my last four visits to the nail salon, COVID sits at the top of the list, followed by the weather, or a brief chat about nail colors.
Top topics used to be spider veins, self-tanners, and sleep-away camps for kids.
Tangerine Dream has replaced Black Cherry Chutney on my fingernails, while my little piggies wait for their turn.
