to remind people to have fun and we as jocks can do that simply by having fun on the air. Knowing what her possibilities are helps. The business of her typical day could involve a meeting with a major client or hanging by a pool with the kids. Grocery shopping, gardening, taking a ceramics class; radio is the soundtrack to all that she's attempting to accomplish. Run with it, run with her! Pack with her too, she got her suitcase ready to go. Studies are showing that more families are vacationing this year as opposed to last year. Some vacations are the same every year, with family members meeting at a time-share on the beach or a cabin in the woods. Others plan to see America by packing up the car and heading down Route 66. My grandfather owned hotels on the Boardwalk; the Wildwood, New Jersey Boardwalk (close to Atlantic City). Whenever I played Monopoly, my grandfather was the banker (he's not). Some families form a caravan and leave at 4 am to drive to their destination; others fly the not-so-friendly-anymore skies. Others stay home where a simple night out watching a free concert in the town square with a picnic basket means a lot. It's a freer, more welcoming feeling. Salads for dinner, long walks, and going out for ice cream fill her day as she sneers at anyone who mentions anything about fall or back to school. Catalogs fill her mailbox with cheery reminders that this summer season will pass-she politely files them away for another time. She loads the cooler and the car and heads for an amusement park, excited about the venture but absolutely exhausted by day's end. She drives home late at night on a busy highway with kids snoring in the back of her SUV. Have fun with all of that!
Right now she could be
- Pumping gas
- Pumping iron
- Applying a self-tanner
- Filling an ice-cube tray
- Editing a manuscript
She Buzz words
- Cellulite
- Smoothie
- Report Card
- Mouthwash
She's lost the car keys again!
Never lose anything again, be it your purse, keys, or kids, with a Loc8tor Tracking System. This system transmits radio frequency signals from tags to a handheld receiver. It has video and audio prompts that lead you to a missing item or person. This would be an awesome tool on a family trip to an amusement park or for a school field trip. Costs under $200. www.loc8tor.com
She Travel
It may be impossible to screen the person you sit next to on a plane. Another reminder about how to stay healthy while flying seems necessary. Cabin air is dry, causing low humidity in the cabin. This, in turn, dries out the nasal passages where sickness can start. Drink lots of water and juice and limit the caffeine. Walk around and stretch regularly to keep the blood flowing and do not rely on the airline to provide clean pillows and blankets. Unless they come wrapped in plastic, they may not be clean; bring your own or do without. And, as always, wash hands frequently and use anti-bacterial lotion.
She's totally ready for...
- A day at the beach
- A swimsuit that looks awesome all the time
- An even tan with no lines and no skin damage
She pet peeve!
When her friends start a business that requires a party to sell their wares-Tupperware or Pampered Chef- and her friend expects her to throw the party.

She Tip
When she goes to an amusement or theme park, she should have everyone dress in the same color t-shirt so everyone can easily locate each other.
She vocabulary!
Guyliner: Guys who accent their eyes with makeup, mostly black eyeliner. Possibly inspired by Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, unless you prefer the Pete Wentz smudged look.
There is a sunscreen designed for every body part: which should she choose? Some experts say the Alyria brand is best under makeup, while others swear by Aveeno or Dermalogica. Regardless of who recommends what, all experts agree that sunscreen should be used anytime the skin will be exposed to sun. The American Cancer Society suggests you "Slip, Slop, and Slap." Slip on a shirt, slop on some sunscreen (SPF 15 or higher), and slap on a hat. In other words, cover up! Most women remember to put sunscreen on their face if it's in their daily moisturizer, but she tends to forget the rest of her body until it's too late and she's at a friend's wedding wearing a halter dress while frying in the sun. SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. Face-protecting sticks are used more on kids, but she opts for two or more different products on her face and body. Scalp protection is big this year; many sunscreens are promoted as being safe on your scalp too. Here is a list of popular brands of sunscreens, and all of them have different variations: baby formula, sport, etc.:
- Coppertone
- Banana Boat
- Panama Jack
- Neutrogena
- Hawaiian Tropic
- Blue Lizard
- Olay
- Bull Frog
