Rock On Kids

My 14 year old daughter has been attending the School of Rock Performance Camp this summer. It's a franchised day camp that offers a rock and roll experience. Kids bring their instruments, get a playlist on Monday and need to perform their part by Friday. Musical instruction is available and this place is staffed by musicians who have been there and are still doing that. These men and women are the type who have had a good band career and now are settling down into something that should pay the mortgage. Located inside a house complete with shag carpeting and a stage this camp truly rocks. Ten-year olds are drumming and 13 year olds are trying to play bass like Mike Dirnt. My teen plays a mean guitar and reminds me of Orianthi when she tacked the Michael Jackson "Beat it" solo. Here's the rest of the playlist these kids jammed to; My Generation, Are You Gonna Go My Way, Walk This Way, Heart of Glass, Holiday, Smells Like Teen Spirit and Enter Sandman. Could you imagine what it would have been like if there would have been opportunities like this when we were growing up? Heck, if I did know then what I would know now I would have bought stock in Microsoft and Guitar Hero.

She scent
Studies show that the aroma of coffee is enough to reverse that sleepy feeling. Inhaling the scent helped people type faster and more accurately. Next time, just walk into a coffee shop, take a whiff, then walk out and see what happens.
She pops
According to the Popcorn Board, an association of US popcorn processors (yes, there is a board for everything), Americans consume about 17 billion quarts of popcorn a year; that's about 54 quarts per person.
She's watching
According the Nielsen Company, in May 2009, the average American:
- Watched 127 hours of television
- Watched five hours of a taped DVR
- Spent 26 hours on the internet (2 hours watching video on the internet)
- In a recent Parade magazine poll, 55% of people surveyed were in favor of a four-day school week, stating quality is better than quantity.
What does she think?
- How much does she charge (on a card) monthly?
- How much of that does she pay off monthly?
