PRICE CHECK

I can't believe I was that woman that held up the entire grocery line. Not on purpose, of course. Who would purposely force themselves into a situation where everyone in line glares at you for holding them up? I was purchasing a chicken breast (with ribs) on sale for $1.39 per pound. I also had a couple of London Broils priced at $1.69 per pound, regularly $2.29. I was loading up my freezer alright. I was expecting my price club card to work its magic at the check out by applying the proper discount, but no. Someone forgot to code the price tags on my large amount of meat, much to my dismay, as well as the high school check out girl who "really wasn't feeling well" that day. After trying to price check these items she was forced to call over a manager. It took awhile for the manager to come to our lane, so long that I was able to find out that my check out gal's nail polish was called "Lincoln Park After Dark" and that she was up till 3 am fighting with her boyfriend. Of course the manager needed to take my meat and walk it all the way to the back of the store to the butcher area so they could recode it. I offered to pay for whatever I had on the conveyor belt but I was told to just wait. And that's what I, as well as the entire line did; we waited for my meat to be properly coded. The gentleman behind me had a full cart complete with Special K and Chips Ahoy cookies; he was handling a slow burn. The mom and toddler behind me seemed to be coping while eating M&M's and the women behind them kept shifting her weight from side to side and sighed loudly. I apologized to the line, warning them about the meat that was coded wrong but they were not interested. I was finally able to check out and my savings was considerable compared to what I could have paid had I not been a consumer who shopped for the deal. But add in the cost of the time and the invisible stab wounds I endured from the death stares and I'm not so sure I actually came out in to black. More like the red.
