Mom broke her arm

My girlfriend Jennifer, mother to two toddlers and a web design consultant, broke her right upper and lower arm in two places after a tumble down a hill while hiking. Yes, she's right-handed, and has a few good friends and babysitters but no family in town to help her out. Jen has gone from the fast lane to a crawl. Just think about everything you have done today and imagine doing the same tasks without having a right arm. It's an incredible inconvenience.
It's difficult to care for her children, keep up at work, house clean and wash and dry her hair. She has been relying on her husband for so many essentials, but even he is getting burned out. She's not cleared to drive and can barely cook a meal. This family was forced to hire a nanny for the next six weeks, so besides Jen's inability to care much for herself or her family she now needs to teach a complete stranger how to do what she does best. Let's just say Jen's not a happy camper. Can you shed some bright light on her today?

She Recall
HP, Dell, and Toshiba laptops with Sony batteries are being recalled. This affects more than 100,000 units. The batteries could overheat and cause smoke and fire. www.cpsc.gov
She Money
Simple magazine featured financial expert Farnoosh Torabi, who showed how much money people have tied up in belongings they no longer use. Here's the list:
- The computer: According to a 2008 study, more than 15 million women post at least one blog entry per week. She could entice advertisers to join her page by making product suggestions. Advertisers typically pay a CPM ? a rate based on 1,000 page views ? of $10 to $20 per CPM.
- The closet: She can sell retired purses, clothes, shoes, scarves, etc., to a consignment shop. One person's trash is another's treasure.
- The jewelry box: To figure out the value of gold and how to sell the scraps that are in her jewelry box, like the earring that's missing its match or the broken chain, go to sites like www.Kitco.com\ and www.monex.com/.
- The couch: According to a survey done by Co-instar, which operates coin machines in supermarkets, the average American family has about $90 in change lying around the house. www.coinstar.com/
- The toy chest: Older toys could have great value: Barbie, My Little Pony, etc. Check out eBay to see what's posted and what could sell.
She Bratz
Bratz Dolls have been eliminated from the Scholastic Inc. list of eligible books for their book fairs. This is in response to an email blitz by the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood. That believes this effort will help educators and parents reclaim children and schools from corporate marketers.
