I'm sitting in the karate waiting room alone. There are no moms discussing thyroid issues and what to make for dinner. There are no dads nodding off and no toddlers screaming. Yes, class is happening; there are about 15 kids taking an advanced sword class wearing red uniforms and swinging their sharp blades over their heads like a samurai. These kids must have gotten dropped off, maybe mom is making a quick trip to the grocery store, pharmacy or dry cleaners. That's what I do, it's amazing what you can get done on a strict kid time limit. I got the Black Eyed Peas singing Boom Boom Pow on a performance video that plays on a big flat screen in this waiting room. I can't tell you how many times I've seen this video; it runs nonstop while a television in another corner blast Nick Jr.shows. This is sensory overload for me because I don't have the chatter of waiting moms to buffer it. Could it be I actually miss those women?
