No Way

The karate moms were in rare form today; I'm eavesdropping on three moms with teenagers. They are discussing their kids and everything they wish they could change about them. "There's nothings I can do, Brittany and Richard won't floss, won't pick up their room, won't text me back," exclaims one mom very loudly in the waiting room. I get that she's exasperated, but I think she's one of the reasons why her kids are the way they are. First, I don't think it's really right to discuss your kid or anyone's private matters in a room where anyone can hear about their problems or faults. I wouldn't want someone doing that to me, why do it to them? If the wrong person listening in gets the info into the wrong ears, someone could have a very bad day at school tomorrow.

The problems continue, one teen won't eat vegetables and refuses to help around the house, the other won't study math or walk the dog or wear clothes without wrinkles. In the scheme of things I know why these moms are so frustrated, but when the topic of hygiene came up I started praying they'd go back to talking about what they ate for lunch and what they are having for dinner.

The stopping point came when all the moms agreed that their teen would have no problem performing the tasks they were complaining about if someone else asked them them to do it.

I will gladly volunteer for that position.
