If It Doesn't Have Any Identifiying Information, It Can't Be An ID
-
Governor Schwarzenegger vetoed a plan that somehow passed the California legislature that would have allowed state ID cards with no address or gender listed. The idea was to make it easier for illegal immigrants and transgender people to get legal ID. The latter part was probably a throw-in -- transgender people can get IDs and licenses in their new gender already -- but the former was yet another attempt to block counties from tracking illegals, because they'd have had to issue cards without keeping records of any addresses. Why are so many politicians so intent on protecting illegal immigrants? Is there any other group of people breaking the law who get special treatment from elected officials? (Sacramento Bee)
