Wish It Didn't Have To Exist. Glad It Does
-
This is the story of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where for decades they've been the last line of, well, offense against cancer. There, they're free to try radical or unusual treatment when all else has failed, and they've gotten federal grants and even insurance company agreements for trying what nobody else will try. What hit home for me about the article is the description one patient had for the smell of the place, a mixture of cleaning fluids, medicine, and sickness. I can tell you from experience that every chemo clinic has that smell, and you never, ever forget it.
