If It Ever Had A Steve And Barry's, It's Probably Doomed

This article is about a dead mall near Baltimore. Every market has these: It's a mall that's seen better days, and now is left with a lot of empty storefronts and the general aura of a place that will close any day now. The decline in malls has been precipitous: First, you notice that the nice jewelry store has been replaced by one selling cheap gold chains. Then the PacSun and LensCrafters places are replaced by stores selling calendars and Ed Hardy knockoffs. Then those places close and the food court loses tenants and soon enough, it's just Macy's, Burlington Coat Factory, GNC, and a couple of kiosks selling cell phone covers. Can you even fix it? Or is it better to tear it down and start over? (Baltimore Sun)
