I read the book that touched off the trend analyzed in this article, barefoot running, which comes from the idea that thick-soled running shoes make your gait unnatural and that it's better, and less prone to injure, to run barefoot on the balls of your feet rather than heel-first. And more marathon runners are trying it. But then you hear that there are indeed injuries based on running with no or minimal shoes. What can a runner do? (New York Times)
