It's not your imagination; there aren't as many holiday retail jobs out there. It's, conservatively, 16% down. And stores are preferring to extend current workers' hours rather than hire and train. That's more bad news in the vicious circle in which we find ourselves: People can't get jobs so they can't spend at stores, who will cut back expenses by not hiring, therefore ensuring that people won't be spending at their stores.
