This Is What Those Drugstore Doc-In-A-Box Clinics Are For
-
A woman is accused of causing a friend's 2-year-old son to die of a Benadryl overdose because she didn't read the directions on the box. The box says not to give it to kids under 6, although parents do it all the time (it's the sleeping-pill equivalent for all traveling families). And, let's face it, do you read all the fine print on drug labels? You SHOULD, but DO you? Of course, this case is a little more complicated: The women involved were homeless and living in a motel, and they "treated" the boy's illness by, among other things, rubbing olive oil on him, then called a pastor for help instead of paramedics. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't do that. (Chicago Tribune)
