Don't Act, Don't Get Re-Elected
-
When Obama was elected, gays figured, well, now we'll DEFINITELY see the end of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." The Democrats had two years to get it done. And now, the window's closing. If the lame-duck Congress doesn't vote to end the policy, it won't happen anytime soon. And they're not rushing to get the job done, so... how did this happen? They PROMISED and didn't deliver. Why? Why didn't Obama use an executive order instead of saying he couldn't (despite most legal experts saying he could)? Why couldn't Democratic majorities in both houses get their act together on this? Will the disappointment keep gay voters from supporting Democrats next time around? (Tribune Washington Bureau via Los Angeles Times)
