It's a financial boon to a city to have a major league baseball team, right? Ask St. Petersburg, where having the Rays in town cost the city $7.3 million this year. Revenues didn't cover costs like security and, especially, insurance. Is it any wonder that a lot of folks in town aren't eager to spend money on a new park to keep the Rays on that side of the bay?
