Ideally, Planes Don't Have Holes In Them
-
The question that arises from the Southwest flight where a hole blew open in the fuselage is how old can a plane be before it can't fly anymore? They say a well-maintained plane can fly for decades, but, clearly, that's not always the case. The experts say, though, that the planes are safe well past when they're considered obsolete because they don't have the right amenities. So if your plane has Pan Am or Eastern Airlines logos on the upholstery, that doesn't mean it can't fly safely. (AP via San Francisco Chronicle)
