So The Way To Control Unrestrained State Spending Is To Give Them More Money? Interesting
-
The L.A. Times report on a poll of taxpayers in California says, "Voters don't want the tax code overhauled in the ways that many fiscal experts promise would tamp down the wild revenue swings that have led to a constant state of budget crisis in California." Those terrible, hypocritical taxpayers! And then you find out that those "ways" involve making it easier for legislators to raise taxes with impunity to spend any way they like. Maybe, just maybe, that's why people don't want to allow tax increases to pass with a simple majority instead of a 2/3 majority, or to repeal Prop. 13, the only reason most people can still afford to live here. The newspapers live in a different universe from the rest of us.
