This article takes oil refiners in America to task for reducing production as prices rise. And it's pointed out that this, along with exporting gas elsewhere, is bringing in record profits. But they ARE for-profit companies, and they DO have a good reason not to ramp up production: If they do that and demand slackens at all, they'll end up with a lot of gas at low prices. And you wouldn't do that if you were running the company, either. (Los Angeles Times)
