It doesn't seem like a good sign for the economy that, in some cities like Seattle, according to income statistics, the average renter can't afford a one-bedroom apartment. Based on percentage of income and market rates, the average renter can afford a studio apartment. That's a dangerous percentage of income going just for a roof over your head. (SeattleP-I.com)
