He Could Leap Tall Buildings At A Single Bound, Too

You know those probably apocryphal stories of Baba Ruth promising a sick kid during a hospital visit that he'd hit a home run that day for him, and then going out and doing it? Harmon Killebrew really did that, and that kid is alive today to talk about it. The kid was in a New York hospital and Killebrew stopped by, and parted with the comment, "maybe I'll hit a couple for you today." And then Killebrew went off to play the Yankees and, sure enough, hit two homers. Which reminds me of that "Odd Couple" episode where Felix takes over Oscar's radio show for a dramatization of the Babe Ruth story, but that's fiction. (Minneapolis Star Tribune)
