One For The Sicker Voyeurs Out There
-
Another college football player is dead, this time Oklahoma linebacker Austin Box, possibly of a painkiller overdose, but that's not the issue I thought made a topic here. No, it's that the story is conveniently accompanied by the 911 call audio, and, once again, I wonder why. I mean, sure, make the calls available to the public, but exactly why did the news media feel it important to air the actual audio? They can report on what was said on the tape, and the public has the right to access, but why put it in the news reports? What additional information is gained by hearing an anguished call by a friend? (Tulsa World)
