That's Good Money For Wielding A Mop
-
Two sex offenders were put on parole and assigned to entry level jobs as janitors for a company that does public works project cleanups, funded with tax money. They were paid nine bucks an hour. They're suing for $42 an hour, and they're likely to win. What? Why?!? Because of this: There's a law requiring any jobs on projects like the ones this company does to pay workers the "prevailing wage" for laborers. That's $42. For a janitor? For a janitor who's entry-level? For an entry-level janitor who's a paroled, convicted sex offender? (Los Angeles Times)
