Oh, do we need to do the one about the Oakland elementary school with the lesson on gender diversity that includes all-girl geckos and transgender clownfish? Sometimes, I think schools do this because they want to hand critics some material. Let's face it, the kids probably didn't understand any of it, and that kind of thing doesn't teach them to become gay if they weren't, and here I find myself paraphrasing Lady Gaga (oy), "born that way." The angst is over teaching kids that they shouldn't hate or bully or disapprove of gay people, and maybe the lesson's too early and aimed at kids who aren't ready to understand sexuality, but by the same token I think some of the outrage is over the idea of tolerance, period.
