This Time It's Personal. It's Always Personal, Come To Think Of It

We've talked about this when she was planning it, but it's still amazing that swimming legend Diana Nyad, now 61, is planning to try again to swim from Cuba to Key West. She tried in 1978, didn't make it, and it's something she wants to go back and complete (and that's a topic right there -- the thing you regret you didn't do or finish, that you'd go back and try again). Crazy? Maybe, but that's okay. What people don't always understand is that for some, there's a NEED to try and accomplish certain things. "Regular people" wouldn't swim the shark-infested waters between Cuba and the keys. I wouldn't. But she's not us. She's driven, she's focused, she NEEDS to do this. It's like climbing Everest or any other feat -- beyond comprehension, but if they don't try it, they'll never be comfortable. I hope she makes it this time. (Washington Post)
