It Followed Me Home. Can I Keep It?
-
The New York Times had a big scoop, with information gleaned from private, confidential emails sent to and from that Goldman Sachs trader in the SEC's mortgage securities investigation. How did they get the emails? That's where it gets interesting: The paper claims that it was given a laptop with the information, and the woman who gave it to them claims that an unidentified "friend" found the laptop in the trash. Because people throw laptops in the trash all the time. A laptop that continues to receive messages, because, naturally, it's all set up to continue to work. And, surely, the power brick came with it, because, you know, when people just throw laptops away, they throw the accessories away, too. It's all just a happy accident. Hmm. (MSNBC)
