Or Have Everyone Park At Staples And The Coliseum And Take Shuttle Buses Up
-
In the latest chapter of the Dodgers farce, Frank McCourt is reportedly planning to hold the Dodger parking lots hostage. Yes, when he bought the team, among all his other financial sleights-of-hand, he put the stadium and the parking lots and the team in separate companies, all controlled by him and his wife. If MLB seizes the Dodgers, he plans, besides suing, to try something with the parking, since the team has to technically lease the lots from him now. The league claims that it has the right to seize everything associated with the team, likely including the lots (which were, at one point, part and parcel with the stadium). If I was Bud Selig and McCourt tried that, I'd announce that the Dodgers were temporarily moving to Anaheim to share Angels Stadium, and that I would build a new Dodger Stadium downtown near Staples Center and the proposed Farmers Field. See what the parking lots would be worth at that point. (LA Weekly)
