Little Brothers Are Watching You. And Cousins, And Everyone Else
-
There's ample evidence these days that it's getting increasingly difficult to be anonymous. Take the aftermath of the Stanley Cup riots, where people have been identifying the miscreants on Facebook and YouTube, and the couple in the famous picture ended up being identified in short order. You can try to get away with stuff, but people will cross-check your face online. And it'll only get more extreme as facial-recognition software becomes commonplace on everyone's computer and cell phone. And whenever someone tries to fake something -- like the kidnapped lesbian Middle Eastern blogger who wasn't -- someone will do the sleuthing and uncover the deception. You can't fly under the radar anymore. (New York Times)
