If it seemed like Saturday night's Gold Cup soccer final was being played in Guadalajara rather than the Rose Bowl, that's because some people would characterize the Mexican national team as America's Team. Okay, it's the team of people who happen to live in America but are still loyal to Mexico, but the upshot is that everywhere the team plays -- not just in border states -- they draw huge crowds of partisans. That might explain Tim Howard's post-game frustration at the Spanish-language ceremony; the audience was largely Spanish-speaking. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)
