Because There's Nothing More Important In Town Right Now

A hot dispute among folks in Eugene, OR ends with a compromise: The City Council will start their meetings with the Pledge of Allegiance four times a year, while they'll also resolve to ask the federal government to divert war funds to pay for domestic stuff. And in either situation, WHO ASKED THEM? First, does it matter WHAT starts a City Council meeting? Is reciting the pledge really meaningful to them or just a procedure they have to do before getting to the "action"? And second, since when is what the feds do City Council business? Again, who asked them? (Eugene Register-Guard)
