Apparently, They're Just Not Green Enough

This story about the police crackdown on UCLA students' "apron parking" -- parking in short driveways and blocking the sidewalk, because there's practically no available parking by their houses -- buries the lede. The real reason for the enforcement isn't safety. It's that the city wants to force people out of their cars. Check it -- they say that they hope the students will realize they don't need cars. But this is Los Angeles, and they DO need cars. Buses just don't do the job. I can't stand when politicians and city officials aren't honest about the real reason they do stuff like this.
