Why Things Are Screwed Up: In Minnesota, they can't agree on a budget, so the state's shut down, or at least state agencies are not operating. And meanwhile, 139 of the legislators involved -- from both parties -- are still collecting paychecks. Why should they feel obligated to do anything while state parks are being vandalized while the legislators aren't getting a budget passed? Meanwhile, in Connecticut, the state's out of money, they're talking about laying off 6,500 state workers, but the legislators are spending over a million dollars a year on constituent mailings which, no matter what they try to tell you, are really campaign flyers masquerading as "information."
