No, Doesn't Seem Worth The Trouble Now, Does It?

The latest victim of the News of the World phone hacking scandal is Murdoch's bid to buy the rest of BSkyB, owner of dominant UK satellite TV service Sky. You know, what's interesting is that this scandal, which was inexcusable, really was about the one paper but is being seen as a threat to the entire News Corp. empire. It's unlikely, and anyone who thinks that the hacking is how, say, Fox or the Times of London or any other News Corp. entity works doesn't understand the UK tabloid scene and the NOTW's spotty history in particular. But it was handled so epically poorly that it's astonishing. (Daily Telegraph)
