They've tried to make playgrounds safer with padding and other safety measures. Now, some child behavioral experts say that this is a bad thing, because it insulates kids from learning to fend for themselves and develop a fearlessness they need to survive in the real world. And, yeah, in the past, most of us survived playgrounds, and the occasional bump, scratch, and scraped knee was just the price of being a kid. It helped us grow up into people who don't overreact when we get minor injuries. Maybe the padding should come off a little. (ABC News/Good Morning America)
