To Celebrate, Let's Write All Over His House And Car
-
This guy's an older gentleman now, but he's being celebrated as the forefather of modern graffiti. He was the infamous Taki 183, who "autographed" walls and signs and trains in the '60s and '70s. He was an inspiration for countless morons to use other people's property to make their "art." What's interesting is that he used to give political and artistic answers to the question "why?," saying that it was in response to ads and political flyers being posted in his neighborhood and stuff like that, but today he admits that it was really because he was bored. He's not above exploiting his notoriety for a little extra fame and fortune, though. (New York Times)
