She was the graduate with the highest GPA at the high school. So why did the school make her share valedictorian honors with the second-place finisher? She says it's because she's black, and she's suing. Put aside whether valedictorian honors are worth a lawsuit; really, why WOULD a school insist on multiple valedictorians? Self-esteem of the runners-up? Racism? Shouldn't it be whoever has the top GPA, period? One person? It's like saying, well, you lost the Super Bowl, but we'll call you champions anyway. (MSNBC)
