We've mentioned this before, but it's one of the big problems with the recovery: Companies are, even explicitly, refusing to hire the unemployed. They won't look at you if you're not currently employed or only recently laid off. Out of work for months? Too bad. And if this persists, the economy will only sink deeper. What can the long-term unemployed do? (New York Times)
