Mrs. Kramden, We Were Wondering If You've Heard From Ralph Lately
-
How did a NJ Transit bus just sit there idling for almost five hours at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York with nobody noticing that the driver had dropped dead at the wheel? He dropped off his last load of passengers, pulled up to an area where drivers park to take a break, and then died, and nobody noticed that the bus was running and just sitting there at the curb instead of going off to the garage in the Meadowlands as scheduled. Nobody checked, nobody from the garage called over to find out why he hadn't returned. Instead, when he didn't show up hours later, they called his wife to see if she knew where he was, and at the bus station, they reported that a bus was "not in a good location." Why did this all take hours? They blame poor communication between agencies. That's one explanation, I guess. (Bergen Record)
