Here's a column about something that's apparently so common among Boston firefighters that one guy who's accused of doing it is using the "everyone else does it" defense: This guy wanted a $65,000-a-year lifetime disability pension because he was too disabled to work, yet he was able to participate in a bodybuilding show and play hardball while being "disabled." This, the columnist notes, is something of which the union membership has taken advantage for years. You say you're disabled, they give you your money, you go enjoy a life of leisure.
