Yet The Rest Of Us Can't Get A Bottle Of Shampoo Past The Security Checkpoint

It's good to know that drug smugglers are getting more creative as they explore new ways to get drugs into the U.S. They've used little submarines, but they're also hiding the stuff in nut shells, beans, wigs, sculptures, and fruit, because who's gonna look inside a bean or a mango to find drugs? But they've also surgically implanted drugs in puppies, and that is not cool. Not cool at all. And they do stuff like mix cocaine into plastic, mold it into dog bowls, then, once in the country, chop it up and dissolve it to retrieve the drugs. That's clever. It raises the time-honored topic of interdiction, and why the "war on drugs" is a waste: The smugglers are clever enough to get stuff past the authorities, and for every one that gets caught, there have to be many more that aren't.
