Let 'Em Go, They'll Get Tired Before Long
-
The aftermath of the Tottenham riots in London continues to turn up stories like the anger some feel that the looters were allowed to continue without police intervention for almost 12 hours; the cops, locals charge, let the looting go on rather than try to stop it. That left the area in a shambles, but was it wise to avoid further confrontation -- after all, the whole thing started as a protest against a man's death in a shootout with police -- or should they have tried to stop the violence from spreading? Meanwhile, it appears that the looters used Twitter to orchestrate the looting; they took advantage of the protest to get free stuff. Is that Twitter's fault? If Twitter didn't exist, would people be decrying telephones for spreading the word? (Daily Telegraph; The Sun)
