Aah, You Didn't Want To Go There Anyway
-
You know how the rest of the world outside North America uses credit and debit cards with smart chips -- "E.M.V." cards -- and Amewrican banks don't issue them, so if you travel to Europe, you won't be able to use your card in some places? Finally, Citibank and American Airlines are offering a chip card. One small problem: It's only for their wealthiest customers, and the card, if you can get it, costs $450 a year. The rest of you? Well, you're probably too poor and insignificant to travel or anything. Seriously, why aren't these cards available for everyone by now? (New York Times)
