The Carlos Zambrano issue came to a head after the volatile Cubs pitcher gave up five homers to the Braves, then threw two pitches at Chipper Jones before getting thrown out on Bobby Cox Night at Turner Field. Then he took the nameplate off his locker and told the Cubs he was retiring. The Cubs slapped him onto the disqualified list, basically suspended without pay for 30 days. His teammates have had enough (they didn't exactly storm out of the dugout when the Braves came to Jones' defense). Why has it taken this long for the Cubs to just say that's enough and cut him loose? Okay, pitching is a hot commodity and they tied a lot of money up with him, but, still, the guy's a liability.
