A Nasty DMV Clerk. Imagine That
-
The California DMV has had to pay a $55,000 settlement to a transgendered woman who went to change her driver's license and ended up getting a letter from the clerk calling gay acts "an abomination that leads to hell." This isn't so much a transgender rights issue as it was a gross violation of privacy. You have to deal with people at city and state agencies and retail stores and everywhere every day, and they have access to your information. How would YOU feel if a clerk took your address or phone number and sent you, well, anything at all, let alone a screed about how horrible you are? Sure, what the clerk did was intolerant and none of his business, but using his access to personal information that way is also inexcusable. (San Francisco Chronicle)
