What They Don't Mention In The Society Columns
-
This woman got several protective orders against her husband, but she was ultimately killed and her husband is the prime suspect (though he hasn't been arrested). That's a typical, terrible domestic violence story, with one additional twist: She was 91 years old, he's 47. They married when she was about 70 and he was in his mid-20s. It was a "marriage of convenience" with "clear terms," he says. Yes, he was a penniless gay man and she was a rich socialite, and it was all out of a Tennessee Williams play. Oh, but the guy also allegedly goes by multiple names, including Sheikh Ali Al-Muthaba, and claims to be a Brigadier General in the Iraqi army and connected with the U.S. government. He wore a strange military uniform around the neighborhood with a marching baton and cigar. There is absolutely a movie script in this story. Start writing. (Washington Post)
