Somewhere, A Slide Rule Is Sadly Thinking It Should Have Been Him

The hottest back-to-school item? iPad? Cell phone? Nope: It's the old-fashioned composition notebook. Yes, that black-and-white cardboard-covered pad is a hard item to find, and they sell out fast. Once they're sold out, it can take weeks to get them. And, come to think of it, every time I go to Walmart this time of year and they put out those ultra-cheap composition books at the checkout, people grab armfuls of them. Can't they just make more?
