Because The Job News Wasn't Dreary Enough
-
One of the big problems with the economy is that research shows employers increasingly hiring fewer men. After centuries -- millenia -- being the primary breadwinners, men are finding fewer jobs and lower pay. Jobs for women are down, too, but men are getting hammered, and the loss of things like construction jobs (fewer new building starts) and white-collar jobs (middle-management being replaced by sharing duties among others and by technology) mean men are being squeezed out. It's no time to be middle class. (Bloomberg Businessweek via San Francisco Chronicle)
