Overtime Isn't The Only Sudden Death Situation In The NHL
-
In light of former Leafs and Predators enforcer Wade Belak's death -- early reports hint suicide -- you'll see lots of columnists demanding that the NHL investigate why three of them died this off-season. Is it from all the head injuries? Something in their personality? Is there a link, or is this a coincidence? It's weirder in Belak's case because he was such a gregarious, seemingly happy guy, aside from the arthritis that led to his retirement, that there's more of the "never saw it coming" reaction out there, as opposed to Derek Boogaard, who had addiction problems in the past, and Rick Rypien, who had battled depression. This one was a shock, so people want answers. (Toronto Star)
